Gabba Community Vision

The Gabba Community Vision Project is a community campaign led by a group of architecture students and graduates. We advocate for a positive outcome for a piece of state-owned land in the centre of Meanjin/Brisbane that is poised for commercial development. This project has spanned across years and included designing alternative visions for the site, community outreach efforts such as survey creation, involvement in community events, research and public speaking. One of our goals is to foster a passionate architecture community that fights for inclusivity, sustainability and community. By reaching out and speaking to practices and students, we hope to build a stronger industry. Since this campaign began, the site in question has been designated as a key site for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. Stay tuned for updates.

It should be noted that this page uses the language ‘state-owned land’. This is a common phrase that does not reflect the custodianship of First Nations People and the care they showed the land on which they lived for thousands of years prior to colonisation. I wish to pay my respects to the Turrbal and Jagera people, the Traditional Owners of the lands on which I live and work and stand in solidarity with them on land that was never ceded.
